One of the things that many people were watching at the start of the Dallas Cowboys training camp is how will this new re-vamped secondary look and are they going to be good enough for this team to reach its goals. So far, looking at this small body of work in the camp that we have, you can say that they have been impressive. The Cowboys can just hope that this is going to continue.
One of the guys that people are paying close attention to is Chidobe Awuzie, a guy that the Dallas Cowboys selected with the 60th overall pick in this year’s draft. It seems that he is living up to the hype so far as he had a pair of interceptions and another two passes deflected in the two padded practices that the team held so far. Even though it is just two days of playing, it is exciting to see him thrive early in the camp.
Another rookie Marquez White has also had a nice start as he has shown a lot of toughness in these one-on-one matchups. This guy might not be the most explosive player out there, but he is not afraid to put his body on his opponent. That is a good quality to have and a nice complementary skill to some corners that are quicker on their feet.
We are not going to forget about some of the veterans on the squad like Anthony Brown or Orlando Scandrick. Brown was the one to intercept Dak Prescott right away on the Thursday morning scrimmage while Scandrick was really good against Dez Bryant. Even though this is very early in the season, the secondary is looking good. They will have to continue working hard and create that synergy in the defensive backfield in order to be a formidable part of this defense.
