Chicago Bulls have had a good start to the season, but now they are playing like everybody expected them to. They are a decent squad, but nothing more than an average team in the East that is going to fight with lots of other teams for the Playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Spurs, on the other hand, haven’t missed a beat since Tim Duncan left and are still looking like an elite squad in the NBA. Kawhi Leonard and company have been dominant on the road. That is a trait of championship contenders. The bench is present as they are contributing just as much as they have in the past. Pau Gasol is now there, and it gives them a new option on offense.
Gasol was on the Bulls last season and was one of the major reasons why Chicago missed the postseason. He was playing at the five spot and could defend a chair. Now, the Spurs are a much better all-around squad than the Bulls were last season. Their team defense is great, and Gasol is not getting exposed as much as he was last year while playing in Chicago.
Dwyane Wade always gets up for these kinds of games. So does Rondo. They won’t go down without a fight. Those two guys in the backcourt need to have a good day if this team wants to upset the Spurs on Christmas. It’s also going to be interesting to see what Butler does against the best defender in the NBA in Kawhi Leonard. That’s a matchup to watch right there.
Bulls have a shot in this duel if their “Big Three” plays well in San Antonio. But, it’s tough to see them taking the win in San Antonio. Bulter and Kawhi will go at it, but Leonard will come out on top and so will the Spurs. San Antonio will end up victorious in this one 101:88.
