Chevrolet FNR-X was presented at Auto Shangai 2017 as an all-purpose sports car concept. The vehicle that was introduced prior to this one was Chevrolet FNR (Find New Roads). That is a work of GM’s Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) which we had at Auto Shangai 2015.
Alan Batey, executive vice president and president of GM North America and Global Chevrolet said a few words about this vehicle: ‘The Chevrolet-FNR is one of Chevrolet’s most forward-thinking concept cars, truly exemplifying the brand’s passion for innovation and ingenuity.’ However, he also went on to add something about the represented model: ‘The FNR-X builds on the design and technology showcased on the original FNR concept and embodies the belief at Chevrolet’s core that anything is possible.’
That means that this modern FNR-X found its basis in the brand’s previous concept and also in trademark characteristics of the brand- speed and performance!
The above-mentioned vehicle, FNR-X, features Chevrolet’s trademark traits such as power and attractive looks. Digital tail lights and headlights (LED of course) make a great combination with the tenon and mortise joint implemented in traditional Chinese woodwork and all of that gives out a cutting edge, artistic feel that is based on great engineering and creative minds of vehicle design artists. And the feature of rear-hinged doors that are controlled remotely are icing on the cake.
This plug-in hybrid can use standard engine or electric motor with the options of two driving modes: 1) S (Sport) and 2) V (Versatility). Thankfully to its adapting suspension and handling profiles this FNR-X can easily change ground clearance on your wish.
Active grille shutters, intelligent adaptive control system and switchable wheel blades adjust without you even noticing when you drive at high speeds which will result in a reduction of wind drag. Aerodynamics of this car are impressive, and that’s because of improved rear and front spoilers and side skirts that adjust (go up and down) accordingly (it depends on your selected driving mode).
Chevrolet FNR-X Interior
When it comes to the interior, the FNR-X’s design is modern, beautiful and creative which is a perfect fit for the exterior of the car. Smart ambient lighting switches colors when you change driving modes which give out the feeling of user friendliness. High-tech fabrics for the cabin’s hexagonal textures stem from graphene crystal structures which signal the beginning of a new era for new energy.
Dashboard and steering wheel now have a sportier look. In order to individualize storage space, seats now ride on numerous rails and have fixed components. Second-row seats can be split-folded so as to improve cargo space when needed.
This car also supports intelligent connected mobility designed for individual users. Among other features, there is an OLED dynamic display system, an ID customizable info system, and intelligent speech interaction system. This is a step towards AI being an essential part of our cars.
Optical and acoustic recognition sensors combined with the All Terrain Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) means highly capable driver assistance because it will choose only the best routes for you based on the AI’s calculations of complex road conditions. The panoramic smart display will provide a clear 270-degree posterior lateral view so as to improve driving pleasure but also the safety.
