It won’t be easy for the New York Knicks to find a trade partner for Carmelo Anthony. They need to find a team that wants to take Carmelo, they need to make sure that Anthony wants to waive his no-trade clause and that the Knicks get a nice return for moving away from their best player. It’s not an easy job for Phil Jackson, but he is shopping his star every single day.
One of the teams that he contacted were the Boston Celtics. Danny Ainge is looking for a star to add to his roster in order for the Celtics to try and compete with the Cleveland Cavaliers. They are doing a great job this season as they are the second squad in the East standings right now, just behind the Cleveland Cavaliers.
It appears that Carmelo Anthony likes the Boston Celtics as they are in a position to compete if they get a player of his caliber. But, just like we said, it’s not going to be easy to get Carmelo deal done as a lot of sides has to be on the same page. In this case, it seems that Ainge is unwilling to part ways with his assets in order to get Carmelo Anthony.
Brad Stevens, the head coach of the Celtics, is on the record that he would coach Melo and that he doesn’t mind him on the team, but he is still a player for which Celtics would need to give up a lot. It seems that Ainge thinks that he would have to send away a bit too much for him, so he is stand-offish about making the deal at this moment. We know how this business works and that things could easily change in the next few weeks so stay tuned for all the latest info delivered on our pages.
