The news broke today that Broncos’ quarterback Trevor Siemian is out for Sunday’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He missed some practices this week, and it was clear he wouldn’t be at his best on Sunday even if he played.
Denver decided that the best thing to do is to shut him down for this round and let Paxton Lynch start. He struggled in his first game as a starter in the NFL, but will the things be different the second time around? Broncos are hoping that he can lead them to a much-needed victory.
They are lucky that they will be playing against a squad that is one of the most inconsistent teams in the NFL. Their defense is nowhere near elite, and that is a good thing for Paxton Lynch and his offense as he will have enough time to make the right decision while not being under heavy pressure. The Denver Broncos would be in a world of trouble if they were scheduled to do up against an elite team.
If the season ended today, they would have been watching the Playoffs from home, just like the rest of us. Dolphins are in the Playoff picture right now, so that is the main reason why Denver needs to win on Sunday.
There is no doubt that Jags could make some noise on Sunday and spoil Denver’s plans. But, that is highly unlikely. Nothing about this team has us believing that they can get the job done in Week 13. That is why we are going to stick with the Broncos‘ to win this game, even without their starting signal caller.
