BREAKING NEWS: A powerful earthquake takes lives of 42 people in Morelos, Mexico
MEXICO CITY —On Tuesday, Mexico City was hit by a massive earthquake. The quake shook buildings through its districts with the strength of 7.1-magnitude. It has been reported that some lives were lost in this terrible occurrence.
On the anniversary of an earthquake from 1985, Mexico City was struck by another devastating earthquake. It all started soon after the quake drill sirens. People got terrified when the ground beneath them began to tremble and when walls surrounding them started to sway. They followed the standard procedure in case of earthquakes, and soon, thousands of people found themselves on the streets. Lots of them were saved from the ruins while some were trapped with no way out.
No one could immediately determine the magnitude or the consequences that this earthquake brought upon. The reports based on the words of governor Alfredo del Mazo suggest that two lives were lost within the Mexico State. In Puebla State, the earthquake demolished one school taking away two more lives, according to the words of Fernando Clemente.
Based on the photos that now circulate the Internet, it has been established that this quake has left numerous consequences regarding both the number of lives taken as well as the ruins. Lots of cars have been smashed when parts of buildings and trees fell over them while dangerous debris could be found on the streets.
It has been announced that patients have been moved from damaged hospitals and that they are safe now. The material losses are tremendously big, not just for the city itself, but for its citizens as well. Lots of them are devastated as they have their houses and even neighborhoods damaged and demolished, but they stick together in these times of need.
“This is the worst one I have ever felt,” the resident Beatriz Aguilar Bustamante stated. “I don’t know if I will have a house when I go home.”
It has been reported by the U.S. Geological Survey that the epicenter was 76 miles away from the capital. The earthquake hit the city at 1:14 p.m. local time.
President Trump expressed his compassion to the citizens of Mexico by writing on his Twitter account: “God bless the people of Mexico City. We are with you and will be there for you.”
