BMW M8 (possibly) caught testing on the Nurburgring!

It has been, without any doubt, a long wait for the born-again M1, but now it seems that it is somewhat closer to realization, well maybe. As you know the German company intended their i8 to fill the gap until the M1 comes, but they did that temporarily. Now they are aware that the fans of the brand demand and need something more powerful than the i8 hybrid coupe. These spy shots we have today, possibly show the thing we’ve all been waiting for, BMW M8.

This here is the second time that this alleged 8 Series prototype has been spotted prancing on test circuit or public roads. O the photos you can see it wearing a new set of rims, it is a lot closer to the ground and has some aerodynamic bits and pieces on the front and the back of it which makes us believe that this could be a high-performance M car.

As you can see from the images, it has a very long and sleek body that oozes performance all over, but there are some who claim that this can’t be the M8 and that most likely we are looking at the new M6. But wait! It can’t be right. The proportions are all wrong, and some outside cues show that this prototype is using features from the iconic M1 (like those rear three-quarters) and the current i8, plus its front and the rear end looks a lot more chiseled than any 6 Series so far. That there should be a sure proof that this is not a 6 Series prototype.

When (or God forbid if) BMW actually revives the 8 Series, it could possibly host either a 4.0 L biturbo V8 under the hood, or even a more powerful V12. Those engines could produce as much as 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) each which only means that they will be able to move this beast from a standstill to 60 MPH in “well under 4.0 seconds.” We also found out, from some other reports, that the BMW might offer both rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive setup. As far as the design goes, we believe that BMW will heavily exploit the design of the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe Concept that we saw a few years back. If you recall, that prototype came with a wide kidney grille, sweeping headlights, and a sleeker rear end, which is pretty much similar to what we have here on the pictures, zooming through corners.

What will gladden most of you is the knowing that the German carmaker plans to offer five different designations of the 8 Series, besides the M one of course. The company trademarked the monikers 825, 830, 850, 860, and M850, and this comes as a sure proof of what we are saying. As the things develop regarding the 8 Series, you will, of course, be notified, with a lot more details as the vehicle’s debut date comes closer, so stick around!

My name is Miloš Kalajdžić and I come from Brčko DC in Bosnia. I was born on July 20 th 1988 and so far I obtained a BSc in economics and one year of working experience in my field of study. I am a very hard-working person who leaves nothing unfinished and halfway done. When I commit to something I give my best to make sure that everything is done the way as it is supposed to be. I like cars and everything that comes with them. My passion are American muscle cars, but unfortunately the closest I managed to come near one is behind my laptop watching an image of the new Chevy or Dodge and writing about it. But that’s ok I’m still optimistic. When I’m not behind the laptop writing I’m on the streets and auto shows admiring all stuff rolling on four wheels being propelled by a petrol engine!
