Things seem to be looking up for BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) judging by the company’s recent cluster of activities. The firm’s latest announcement is that it has completed the acquisition of Good Technology Corp (NASDAQ:GDTC).
Good Technology is a mobile security software company initiated in 1996. Blackberry plans to incorporate the software solutions offered by Good Technology into the Blackberry software suites. The company plans to use the blend to create a complete software solution for the entire mobile enterprise. The technology will be extended to multiple applications and platforms while maintaining personal privacy.
Blackberry expects the impact of the acquisition to start reflecting in the company’s profits and cash flow within the first year. Good Technology is expected to collect revenues worth up to $60 million within the first year.
Blackberry’s CEO, John Chen stated that his company and Good Technology are complementary. The acquisition will allow the firm to overcome the riddle of how to handle all the deployment models used across the different operating systems.
The combined technology will generate more value through the ability to extend across the enterprise mobility management. IDC’s Enterprise Mobility Research Director added that the acquisition brings additional value to the EMM solutions through application containerization on Android and iOS, including solutions for third party apps.
Blackberry also expects collaboration applications and secure mobile communications from its software and also from Good Technology software offerings.
The company aims to leverage other security services that have been certified by other governments as part of building up the mobility infrastructure. Good Technology will acquire numerous benefits as part of Blackberry. One of the most significant benefits is the ability to extend growth thanks to unlimited access to an already existing and proven mobility infrastructure.
Blackberry seems to be ending the year on a high note having garnered the acquisition as well as the launch of the Blackberry PRIV. Blackberry had also released a series of other announcements relating to enterprise mobility in the previous month.
