BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB)’s messaging app BBM have hit a major milestone on the Android platform. The app has already hit the mark of 100 million installs and with this it has made place for itself among the top most downloaded messaging apps on Google Play.
Rising popularity of BBM on Android
BlackBerry released the BBM app for Android in late October 2013, and it took the company a little more than a year’s time to reach the mark of 100 million installs. The app received about 2.4 million 5-star views of 3.7 million total reviews.
The stickers on BBM are also very popular, and the users have sent more than 1 billion stickers for now, the blog noted, adding that the BBM shop receives about 1 billion virtual goods impressions a month. Such numbers are sufficient to show that the momentum of growth of the BBM app is very tremendous, and the future is going to be even brighter.
BBM app is now available on four different platforms of which Android is one, and the other three are BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB), iOS and the Windows Phone. “So while 100 million installs is a big number, it’s still just a fraction of the total,” according to a blog post. “100 million is great, but a billion is even better.”
BlackBerry offers more features
