It’s been a while since we heard any news of an upcoming BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) device, though there have been talks of the Rio model, but that news too is somewhat old now. However, now an exciting news for BlackBerry fans has come in the form accessory listings for the Rio being spotted.
In-line with earlier Blackberry Rio rumors
Case manufacturers are the first one to receive information of any upcoming device. This helps them ready the product by the time the release of the smartphone. Also, such listings has been one of source for the information leaks for many of the devices.
According to a report from N4BB, we could, “apparently see a Rio sync pod, leather swivel holster, screen protectors, leather pocket case in black and white, and flex shell cases in black, military green, and storm blue.”
The report, further, says that if the leak is to be believed, then the retailers would be placing the orders for the accessories by the end of February. Also, this date will be in-line with the rumored April release of the BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) device.
Are these source reliable?
First information on BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) Rio surfaced last year. However, after that there have not been any further information available on the device leading many to believe that the Canadian firm might have scrapped the plans. However, going by the accessory listing, we could say that the company might come out with the device soon.
BlackBerry Passport and Classic have performed well in comparison to the other recent devices from the Canadian firm. CEO John Chen have been saying it time and again that the company has no plans to exit the hardware business, and the company will continue to come up with new and innovative models.
A fact that similar listings were seen before the launch of Classic and Passport, provide more weight to such listings. However, as of now, there is no official information available on the Rio model, even we don’t know whether or not any such device exists in the company’s product pipeline.
Separately, a recent from N4BB claims that BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) may announce the global roll-out of its highly awaited OS 10.3.1 to all current in-market BB10 devices on Feb. 19.
