BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) is feeling very confident about its QNX OS as the latest version of its certified operating system.
The company claims that the system has been designed to offer a wide range of services through the digital instruments clusters and the Advanced Driver Assistance system. Blackberry claims that the product safety has been a critical concern for the developmental face of the system.
In the case of the QNX and its other products, Blackberry insists on maintaining a long-term commitment to the service as long as it is useful to the client. The company feels that such a level of dedication is what it takes for the company to make sure its product is a success and remains successful.
Blackberry’s software development program involves subjecting its OS safety products to a continuous impact analysis through the QNX Software Systems. The analysis process is so extreme that if the analysis demands an improved product after the service has already been certified, the firm has to go back to the drawing board and improve the product for final use.
Before the new QNX OS was launched, the company had only one ISO certified OS for automotive systems while the other OS was satisfied by the IEC for general embedded systems. Blackberry’s new standard has both safety standards. Blackberry also plans to replace the two older versions with the new one since it caters for all the functionalities. This makes it the ideal tool to get the work done. One of the extra added benefits includes less maintenance.
Blackberry also followed all the rules in the book to get both certifications for just one OS. It was mainly possible because the IEC 61508 provides the basis for many market-specific standards including ISO 26262 and a few other certification standards.
