BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) is bringing back the highly popular features, and is very close to the official unveiling of the Classic device. December 17th is the scheduled date for the release of the much-awaited device.
The pre-orders for the ‘Black’ Classic are being taken by the company since past few weeks. However, new images suggest that the device would be available in white as well. It is not known for now if it will become available along with the Black model on its day of launch, says a report from N4BB.

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) has high hopes attached to the device as it tries to regain the market share that still prefers the legacy Blackberry devices that come with the tool belt comprising of five buttons. The no-contract price of the device could be fixed at $499, and $49.95 is the two-year term pricing. Several Canadian carriers will get the device.
The famous ‘belt’ row of functions will also be seen with the device that includes call, menu, trackpad, back and end buttons. The 3.5-inch display device is powered by 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor and has 2GB RAM. The device comes with a rear camera of 8MP and front camera of 2MP and runs on 2515 mAh battery. The device will come with the latest BlackBerry OS 10.3.1, and has a 16GB Flash and a Micro SD card slot.
App for healthcare
Separately, BlackBerry Passport will soon come with a clinical genome browser. The browser will be made with the joint effort from both BlackBerry and NanHealth, which is a health analytic’s company. A Consumer Electronics show is scheduled to be held in January where a demonstration of the browser along with the regulated verticals being targeted by BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) will be highlighted. Cloud- based analytic’s is provided by NanHealth to hospitals. Oncologists will have the privilege of receiving the interactive reporting through the NantOmics Cancer Genome Browser. BlackBerry and NanHealth are planning a series of platforms, and the said browser is first of it.
The size, screen and security of Passport are being pitched by the company as advantages for the Healthcare. It is possible to deploy the NantOmics browser in a HIPAA environment because it is encrypted. Besides these, the company is also pitching its enterprise mobility management tools to hospital technology admins.
