BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) launched its Classic device exclusively on Telstra Australia today, for the time being. The device has been introduced by the company for revitalizing its smartphone business and taking it back the glory it enjoyed once. The device not only comes with a physical keyboard, but also with a messaging system that is secure.
On other carriers soon
On Telstra, the device is being offered with a range of plans costing $63 to $130 on carrier’s S, M, L, XL plans. The device will be available with other carriers as well in some time, according to a spokesperson from BlackBerry. Telstra is offering the Classic device for $504, and “Kogan is offering the phone outright network unlocked for $589, though it’s likely a grey import,” informs Business Spectator.
“We’re delighted to partner with Telstra to launch our latest device, which is purpose-built for Australian customers who just want to get things done,” said the managing director for BlackBerry Australia, Matthew Ball. Previous users of BlackBerry Bold and Curve devices, have been waiting for the Classic device from BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB), which is a powerful communication tool. The device will seem familiar to the users in their hands believe Ball. With the new device, users will have the added advantage of better performance and agility for optimal productivity while they are on the move.
BlackBerry Classic improvisation of Bold 9900
Blackberry Classic is powered with a 1.5GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor and RAM of 2GB. The Classic device has a full QWERTY keyboard, and on top of it there is a 3.5-inch screen with a 720×720 resolution. Classic comes with an internal storage of the 16GB, and a powerful battery life of 22 hours.
The new Classic device from BlackBerry is an improvisation of BlackBerry Bold 9900 with three-time faster browser. Besides that, it has 60% more screen space and a battery that can last 50% longer. Also, BlackBerry World and the Amazon App Store offer access to a greater variety of applications to the users.
In Australia, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) released its Passport device in December. The Passport device was exclusively available with Optus just like Classic is with Telstra.
