BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) soon to be launched new smartphone ‘Passport’ has drawn all the attention of the communities towards BlackBerry as the scheduled timing for the device’s global release is next month. The company has plans of releasing yet another device ‘Classic,’ which is not much hyped, but has some astonishing features, according to the recent details provided by Geekbench.
Classic scores higher than z10
BlackBerry Classic is planned for the release later in the year which too would sport a QWERTY keypad like ‘Passport’. Geekbench has informed that the device will be powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a RAM of 2GB. The Z10 device (except STL100-1 model) had internals similar to the Classic device. The Classic has generated a score of 500, which is higher than the score of 453 generated by the Z10 despite having similar internal specs. The Z10 device does not officially have the software improvements that are there in the Classic’s OS 10.3.1.317, which have lowered its score in comparison with the Classic, according to the Geekbench results. We will see the release of this device in November 2014.
Earlier there was news that the company is in talks with Drake for promoting the Classic device as informed. Drake is a huge fan of BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) ‘Bold’ devices, and has been spotted using the 9900 device on numerous occasions.
BlackBerry Passport launch hinted
The launch event of ‘Passport’ will supposedly be held in London, in September. None of the service carriers have disclosed any information about the availability of the upcoming BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) Passport on their networks except Vodafone Germany. In a reply to the query posted by a customer on the Vodafone Germany forums about the expected timeline of the availability of Passport on their network, a forum moderator came up with the following reply – “We will take over the BlackBerry Passport in our range. Planned to sell from the beginning of October, but this date has not yet been confirmed by the manufacturer.”
