In one of the Wrestlemania main events that the company and the fans would like to forget, at Mania XX, Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg went head-to-head for the championship at the biggest stage in wrestling. Both of the guys were leaving the company soon, the fans knew that and they decided to turn on the performers and the match itself. Brock and Bill reacted to it in the ring which made everything just look worse.
Since that match, we have seen Brock Lesnar make his return and have a great run in the WWE from 2012 up until now. Then, in late 2016, Bill Goldberg showed up and made his comeback as well. The matches with Lesnar were set, and they ended their feud at Wrestlemania 33 where Lesnar finally won the fight against Goldberg.
Many people really didn’t believe that Bill had one more run in him and he knows that. In a recent interview, among other things, he spoke about the feud with Lesnar and what that meant to him.
„It was a very tense build up and everything. Thirteen years far removed from the business, thirteen years removed from the match, and the way we had went out. At the same time it as different circumstances, but in everyone’s eye it was a negative, self-included so to be able to have an opportunity to put something positive ahead so people don’t dwell on that the rest of their lives and get a little retribution and go out and show everyone that I can still do it.“
He also thanked everybody that believed in him from day one. He stated that even he sometimes didn’t know whether or not he can do it. His confidence was at the all time high at one point, and then, it dropped right after. At the end of the day, he is thankful that everything ended just the way he wanted it to.
