Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) finally decided to create an account on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) provide customer support to through the popular social network.
The iPhone makers’ Twitter account @AppleSupport went live today, March 3 at 8:00 ET. Apple Support is now available on the microblogging site to provide customers with tips, tricks and helpful information when they need it most, and to answer any question about the company’s products.
The same Apple Advisors trusted by customers will provide the support they need through the social network. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was among those who cheered Apple’s decision to bring its customer support on the microblogging site. Dorsey Tweeted:
Apple Support receives inquiries from users immediately
Apple Support has 60,800 followers and 669 tweets at the time of this writing around 1:32 in the afternoon ET. One of its first tweets was about the hidden tricks of the Notes app.
Apple users didn’t wait long to take the opportunity to seek help from the tech giant to resolve their problems on their devices.
Apple expanding social media presence
According to technology observers, Apple currently have a minimal presence on social media. Last year, the company created a support account @AppleMusicHelp to help users how to download music and create playlists. That account has 18,000 followers. The iPhone maker’s decision to open another support account on Twitters showed its intention to expand its presence and reach more customers.
Last month, many iPhone owner were frustrated and complained about the “error 53,” which was triggered when they updated their devices to the latest version of the iOS 9. Their devices lost functionality and became useless. The company explained that the error 53 was part of the TouchID Security, which was intended to protect users’ fingerprint data.
After receiving multitudes of complaints, Apple released an updated version of the iOS 9.2.2 to restore the bricked iPhones and iPads to full working condition. The company published a new support document detailing the causes and process to repair the error 53. Users whose iPhones were bricked should plug into their iTunes account to get the update and restore their devices.
