Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) launched the fifth beta of iOS 8.2 to the developers, three weeks after offering the fourth beta, and almost three months after releasing the first iOS 8.2 beta. Developers can access the 12D5480a immediately as an over the air update, and can also opt for downloading it from the iOS developer center.
Bugs fixed in the new version
The new version comes with many updates including Xcode 6.2 beta 5 with WatchKit. A report from MacRumors informs that the iOS 8.2 beta 5 resolves a bug that caused issues in Facebook working properly. There were some issues like “GMT bug” that are also reportedly fixed.
The beta 5 suggests that iOS 8.2 will be the version to fix the bugs that have annoyed the users for long. Issues with buggy Bluetooth, Wi-Fi battery and calendar problems, is resolved in the beta 5. According to a report from Forbes, under a ‘Calendar’ section the beta 5 release notes, “Fixed in beta 5 – 3rd party calendar sync does not work in this beta.”
The iOS 8.2 comes with the WatchKit SDK that allows developers to make apps and notifications for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s soon to be launched wearable device. Increase in iOS users
Separately, there is an increase of 4% point in the usage for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS 8, which was at 68% compared to last released data in early January. Around 97% of the iOS devices are running on the iOS versions released over the past two years.
On the other hand, data from Google’s Play Store reveals only 1.6% device running on the Android Lollipop compared to the 39.7% share of Android 4.4 KitKat. There is no specific reason for a gap in the iOS and Android update adoption rate, however, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s direct control over the process could be one of the prime factors. Apple’s carrier partners are not allowed to interfere with iOS, which is not the case with Android.
