Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) already has a strangle hold on the most popular apps for smartphones and gadgets via its App Store. It shares its remuneration with developers thereby allowing for healthy competition in building quality apps for the iOS platform based iPhone, iPad and the iPod.
Now, with Apple Inc. concentrating its efforts on it latest gadget, the Apple Watch, the air is thick with expectation that it would soon allow developers to build apps for this device as well.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), according to media reports is well on its way to equip itself with new tools as well as options to display content on the first ever wearable device it has made. The speculation that the next update to the OS would enable third party app developers to enter the loop is increasingly in industry circles.
As per news reported by one media agency, the first of the features which Apple Inc. would allow for third party app development is the Apple Watch Complications. This would be related to informational features which are tiny and found on the watch face. In its current avatar, the feature displays only Apple-built content, which is dates, battery percentage, weather conditions as well as stocks.
Currently, users of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) watch need to tap on the screen and turn the digital crown to select the Complications that they want to view. A knob can be used to scroll over the options and indicate their preferred choice. Later, one has to only raise one’s wrist to activate the watch and display real-time information on the selected Complications.
The waiting for the developer kit for third parties is eagerly awaited, with apparently a Twitter Complication already on the anvil to display tweets and mentions of users. The confirmation of such third party development is likely to emerge by June 8, at the Worldwide Developer Conference.
