Bono has moved to apologize to iTunes users after admitting they might have gone too far with their album launch on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). After the release of the group’s album last month, iTunes users discovered that the album formed part of their iCloud purchase prior to placing a request for the same.
iTunes Users Uproar
One of the fans is quoted as saying that the group should never release an album on iTunes that automatically downloads as it amounts to rudeness. Bono had taken on stage last month during the launch of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new iPhone and Apple Watch to announce their partnership consequently gifting each iTunes users with their Album for free.
The move to forcefully force the album to iTunes users did not go well with many people as later on the biggest question online was ‘how to remove U2’s album from your iPhone.’ Bono admitted during the interview that artists can at times be carried away by the fear that any song released might not be heard thus the unprecedented move for self-promotion.
Apple’s Purge Tool
The artist later reiterated that the group main desire has always been to ensure that their new releases reach as many people as possible thus the partnership with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). The partnership has already allowed the group to achieve a milestone with the album ‘songs of Innocence’ which is the group largest album release ever.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s senior vice President for internet Software and Services Eddy Cue has already joined a bandwagon defending the group. The executive reiterated that it had always been the company’s desire to share their love for music by essentially gifting iTunes users with free albums once they are released. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) reports that more than 26 million might have downloaded the album with 81 million having listened to it as part of the promotion.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has already released a tool that users can use to delete the album from their iCloud purchases list.
