Patent trolls are considered as the major problem for the industries in the Silicon Valley. But now the harm done by these patent trolls has spread its legs wide in the other sectors too. Eventually these firms are joining the technology firms in mass to advocate the patent reform legislation.
On Thursday morning, advocates will gather in a huge mass in support of forming the super coalition which would include some big shots from the Silicon Valley namely, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE). These tech giants would be accompanied with some of the new comers viz, Macy’s Inc. (NYSE:M), J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE:JCP) and the National Association of Realtors.
Other members in the coalition would be from different domains which include the restaurant lobby, the hotel industry and telecom companies.
United For Patent Reform
The super coalition is named as United For Patent Reform and is expected to start with a strength of 20 members as its founders. Beth Provenzano, the co-chair of the group said that this is truly the super coalition as it would include almost all the big names from the Silicon Valley. He added that this would give a chance to these people to come together and work closely for their overall development.
The big decision came into picture as The Congress is anticipated to take up one more patent legislation after a delay last year.
A Drive For Patent Reform Needed
Patent Trolls have become a headache for almost all the industries irrespective of their domains. Hence a push for the patent reforms has become a necessity and has been supported by the major part of the economy. Also some of the analysts have stated that patent reform could be a base wherein the new Republican-held Congress and the White House can find an easy way to end up the agreement.
