Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) signed an exclusive partnership agreement to transform the enterprise mobility by bringing a new calss of business apps to the iPhone and iPad.
According to the press statement of the iPhone and iPad maker, the partnership aims to redefine how enterprises accomplish their work, address the main challenges confronting the mobile industry and start a true mobile-led business change.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) explained that its enterprise mobility partnership with International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) is founded with four-core capabilities including the following:
- a new class of over 100 industry specific solutions such as native apps for iPhone and iPad
- unique IBM cloud services optimized for iOs including device management, security, analytics and mobile integration
- a new AppleCare service and support designed to meet the needs of enterprises
- a new package of offering from IBM for device activation, supply and management
According to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), the IBM MobileFirst for iOS solutions will developed by combining its legendary consumer experience, hardware and software integration and developer platform with the big data and analytics capabilities of International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM).
The combination of the capabilities of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) will result to the development of business apps that would allow enterprise and employees to become more effective and efficient and provide customer satisfaction easier and faster using the iPhone and iPad.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said, the “iPhone and iPad are the best mobile devices in the world and have transformed the way people work with over 98 percent of the Fortune 500 and over 92 percent of the Global 500 using iOS devices in their business today.”
“For the first time ever we’re putting IBM’s renowned big data analytics at iOS users’ fingertips, which opens up a large market opportunity for Apple. This is a radical step for enterprise and something that only Apple and IBM can deliver,” added Cook.
On the other hand, IBM Chairman and CEO Ginni Rometty stated, “This alliance with Apple will build on our momentum in bringing these innovations to our clients globally, and leverages IBM’s leadership in analytics, cloud, software and services.”
