Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), who always surprises its fans with new features and outstanding abilities, now has plans of offering devices that can stand water without getting damaged. Recently, a patent has been filed by Apple at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, describing how its various devices – iPhone, iPad and MacBook – can be waterproofed using different methods, says a report from Apple Insider.
Apple could go for ‘full waterproofing’
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is known for taking big steps in hardware, and unlike its competitors, the company could be trying to make a device that is overall waterproof and not just ‘water proof’ to a limited extent. This can be made possible if the internals of the device are coated and sealed while in the process of manufacturing and assembly. The process could require a time period of a year or so for getting implemented properly at the Foxconn and other third-party factories, according to a report from Chinatopix.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is making a great push into the enterprise world, and having an iPhone or an iPad that is waterproof can be very useful for the users. If a device has the capability of withstanding various kinds of terrains, then the businesses will be more inclined towards picking up such a device in large quantities.
A useful feature
Waterproof is also a useful feature for the consumers as well, and companies like Sony and Samsung already making attempts of offering mobiles that are waterproof. Devices face a number of internal issues because of accidents taking place like dropping in water, sometimes even rendering the device completely useless. In such cases waterproofing proves to be a device saver. The devices that are waterproofed are better for use as they not only become safer, but in turn also make insurance cheaper.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6S, expected later this year, might not come with waterproofing. However, the next launch by the company i.e. the iPhone 7 could be the first device with waterproofing. And the same goes for the other two devices from the company – iPad and MacBook.
