Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s MacBook Air lineup has undergone a refreshment process by its manufacturers, and the devices now come with Haswell processors that are the latest Intel’s offering. The model shipped earlier, had a 1.3GHz processor while the entry-level model now comes with a 1.4GHz Core i5 chip that made it slightly faster compared to the other one.
Apple also slashed the prices
Not only has there been a change in the processor, the prices of all the units of MacBook Airs have been dropped by $100 each. The base model with 11-inch is now being offered at a starting price of $899 while the 13-inch model is offered at a starting price of $999.
The older versions of MacBook Air came with Turbo Boost speed of 2.6 GHz. The company wants to improve the over-clocking and for doing so it has offered a higher Turbo Boost speed of 2.7 GHz.
No other major changes
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) acclaimed MacBook Air has come at a lower price and with a faster processor. No other significant changes have been introduced in the latest version of MacBook – according to its spec sheet. The body is aluminium based and sleek with Intel HD Graphics 5000 as before. There are no changes in the configuration of the base models. The storage capacity is still 128GB and RAM of 4GB. If the RAM can be raised to 8GB it would be a great positive change. Till that is offered by Apple, the current versions with increased 8GB RAM, come at higher prices. The MacBook Air from Apple has not come with speedier Thunderbolt 2 connectivity, which is still reserved for the MacBook Pro and Mac Pro desktop.
MacBook Air released last year by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) did not have many shortcomings to be looked into. Therefore, with this year’s new version of MacBook Air, they did not make many changes. The new Intel’s Haswell processor comes with a superior technology that is combined with OS X’s efficient energy management. This would help in enhancing the battery life. The 13-inch device, when fully charged, can last up to 12 hours.
