Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone usage in the U.S. is correlated to the education level and population density, with northeastern states witnessing higher number of the iPhone owners, according to a recent study. Chitika Insight’s recently released a report in which they illustrated how the usage of the iPhone is highly variable among different state.
Education level and Apple iPhone usage
The study found that the education levels are the ones with which the iPhone usage relates more closely. While it is common to see the usage of electronic devices varying with factors such as geography or raw population, but the results for the iPhone differed as found by the study.
‘Very high’ Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone usage rates of 55% to 65% were shown by the states of Alaska, Hawaii, Kansas, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Vermont. Eastern states had the iPhone usage as high as 50% to 54% while it was relatively low at 40% to 44% in the southern states.
On merging its own data with that of the U.S. Census and the American Community Survey, Chitika found that the iPhone’s relationship with education held across a median income. The study found that the usage of the iPhone tended to be higher in states where populations were denser and education levels were higher.
Similar studies before
During December 25th through December 31st 2014, the firm made use of the iPhone ad impressions for quantifying the study and those were accessed through the Cidewalk mobile ad platform of the firm. The devices that were given off over the holidays as gifts were included in the study.
In the past four years, the adoption of the iPhone has increased at a brisk pace. High iPhone usage can be seen in many states where BlackBerry dominated. Several studies have been conducted in the past as well that tried to correlate the usage of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone with higher education and income levels.
In 2011, a similar study was conducted, where the results showed that the iPhone usage exceeded Android in few of the states. The conclusion drawn from such studies is that the owners of iPhone are wealthier and highly educated than the owners of smartphones of other brands.
