Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook, in a memo sent on Sunday to employees, took the opportunity to reflect over the goals achieved by the company over the past year, and also conveyed about the plans of 2014.
Highly Innovative in 2013
In the memo, Cook expressed his gratitude towards the employees for their hard work, and mentioned about the products launched in 2013 like iPhones, the refurbished iOS7, OS X Mavericks, iPads and the new Mac Pro.
Cook said that the company unveiled cutting edge innovative products in all the major categories, in 2013. In the smartphone category, iPhone 5S was launched to gain significant turf and extend the innovation. Also, the company launched iOS7, OSX Mavericks, which could be availed by the customers for free. In the tab category, iPad Air and iPad mini Retina display was launched, and recently the shipping of Mac Pro started from the manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas. Apple also marked the 50 billionth download on the App Store “a milestone no one could have predicted we would reach so quickly.”
Community Work
Cook mentioned in the letter that the company proved to the world that innovation is not just limited to the products. In 2013, the iPhone maker raised and donated tens of millions of dollars for charities and relief efforts like Red Cross aid to typhoon victims in the Philippines along with being the largest contributor to RED, supporting the Global Fund to contain the spread of AIDS in Africa. John Ive made a full-fledged effort to raise fund and increase awareness to eradicate transmission of AIDS from mother to child.
Cook mentioned that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) believes in equality and diversity at the workplace, and it asked the U.S. Congress to support workplace protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Big plans for 2014
For 2014, the CEO said Apple has ‘some big plans that we think customers are going to love.’ In his letter, Cook said the vast majority of people are using Apple products this holiday season irrespective of their profession and works
He added that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is looking forward to 2014, and has big plans that customers would like and appreciate. Also, Cook said that he considers himself as the luckiest person in the world for getting a chance to work with Apple and all its employees.
