Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) launched its much hyped big screen iPhone last week, and soon after this there were images and news floating around from Samsung stating that the big screen Apple device is an imitation of the Samsung Galaxy Note, which has been there in the market from around four years.
Why Samsung mocked iPhone 6?
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005935), the smartphone market leader, has been hitting on rival Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) with sarcastic videos and comments claiming that the big screens were introduced by them first.
We have had large screen smartphone from a very long time in the market especially with the Galaxy range of phones. The Korean company was also criticized for this on numerous occasions by the media and the industry experts.
A video has been compiled by Samsung in which the company has ridiculed those reports from the media that criticized the Galaxy Note for being too big. In the very same video, the highlight is on the reports claiming that Apple iPhone 6 is not a distinct product, but an imitation of the Samsung Galaxy Note.
What made Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005935) take this step is the fact that at the release event Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was behaving as if they are the first ones to make big screen available in the market. That is when they decided to make a mockery of Apple’s show and all its elements and came up with ads.
Samsung’s US spokesperson released this terse statement, “The social videos were produced in Korea and are not part of the US marketing campaign.”
Apple downplays Samsung
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) would obviously want to retaliate to this, but they would not follow the same course of actions. Apple does not see Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005935) as a potential competitor as evident from the statement given by the CEO Tim Cook, who said that Google is their chief rival and not Samsung.
An analyst at Andreessen Horowitz Benedict Evans has indicated that the new Apple iPhone 6 plus could give an intense competition to the Galaxy Note from Samsung.
