A listing on Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) appears to show when video game Minecraft: Story Mode might be available on the market. Telltale Games is the name behind Minecraft: Story Mode, but the company hasn’t confirmed when exactly it will release the game. However, according to the Amazon listing, Minecraft: Story Mode is on the way for October 27 release, but initially for North America.
Fans are eagerly waiting for Minecraft: Story Mode, an adventure game that is likely to benefit from the popularity of the Minecraft franchise. If the Amazon listing is true, Minecraft: Story Mode will likely come to market sooner than many may have anticipated – October 27.
Platform availability
On mobile, Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode will be available on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s Android platform and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iOS platform. For consoles, the game will be available on Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Moreover, the game will be available Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE)’s PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Additionally, the game will be available on Wii U platform.
On computers, Minecraft: Story Mode will be available on Windows PCs and Apple’s Mac computers.
A different approach
Telltale is taking a different approach in the release of Minecraft: Story Mode. The company will make digital and physical copies of the game available at the same time. Buying the physical copy of Minecraft: Story Mode will give you access to the first episode of the game and the opportunity to download the game’s next four episodes as they come.
Previously, Telltale prioritized digital releases with the disc coming as a collection of the individual episodes released on the Internet. Minecraft: Story Mode will be the first game that Telltale will release on disc and Internet simultaneously.
Nevertheless, video game publishers such as Capcom have mastered the strategy of releasing physical and digital versions of their games at the same time.
Other titles
Besides the highly anticipated Minecraft: Story Mode, Telltale’s other high-profile releases include Fables: A Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead.
Another first in Minecraft: Story Mode is that players will have to choose a lead character right away rather than simply following the already selected protagonist.
