5#1 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Now, this one is probably the most famous movie vehicle and instantly recognizable as such, mainly because of the movie and the star that drove it. This 1995 Eclipse was produced in a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Diamond-Star Motors and it “starred” in the first movie. The vehicle’s role wasn’t that big in the film, it ended up on a junkyard after being blown up, but it was used by Brian (Paul Walker) in a race against Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). It had a 2.0 L 16 valve 4 cylinder inline engine that was additionally tuned by the owner John Lapid, an LA auto tuner, with additional air induction, fuel delivery and of course, turbochargers that boosted the Eclipse to up to 435 HP. Despite the fact that all of this was packed under the hood, Brian lost his first race against Dom but it was a hell of a try, he just wasn’t lucky. It seems that experience won that time.
