Back in the fall when it was time for the Survivor Series build, The Undertaker showed up on Smackdown Live, telling everybody that he has always been team blue and that he is rooting for the Smackdown Live team and that somebody is going to pay if they happen to lose. At the moment, the champion was AJ Styles, and Taker was looking at him to lead the brand to the win.
He said that Wrestlemania is no longer the show that is going to define him. That ended up being false, but there is no doubt that the injuries to the hip of the Undertaker caused him not to show up on the blue show. His health was the reason for his career to be over at Wrestlemania 33. If he was healthy, we might have seen The Undertaker and AJ Styles feuding for the WWE Championship going into Wrestlemania season. That would have been a huge feud and huge match.
Now, with The Dead Man retired, a lot of superstars and fans have turned around to take a moment to look at the 27-year career of The Phenom. One of the stars that recently talked about The Undertaker was AJ Styles himself and here is what he had to say about the retirement that we have seen at WM33.
“I can tell you I was emotional because he’s my friend. He and I have got a relationship between both of us have the same friend that we’re very close to, so he and I developed this relationship without even knowing each other that well. But it was heartbreaking a little bit because this is the guy that’s been here for so long and has shaped the WWE into what it is now. And, is he gone? I don’t know, but you would assume.”
