BMW is developing the new model, and according to reports, it will carry the X7 nameplate. The German automaker is testing the prototypes for months, and we have the photos of the new vehicle. The new full-size SUV will be previewed with the concept version at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show.
Exterior
The exterior of the X7 has already been seen on the other versions produced by BMW, so nothing is surprising in that aspect. The new model looks like the standard three-row SUV, while the authentic parts are the vertical vents. The kidney grill is enormous, but the design is expected to be toned down for the production version.
BMW X7 Concept Interior
The interior is almost production ready, just like the exterior. However, in both cases, some of the parts will be replaced, such as the chrome in the cabin with the standard air vents. Based on the spy photos we can see the combination of an eDrive badge and an electric charging port on the driver’s side of the car. In other words, the model you can see is either a pure electric or a plug-in hybrid, which is a more likely option. Speaking of the electric cars, BMW should unveil the X3 in 2024.
Rumor has it that the BMW X7 concept could come with a fuel cell powertrain, but there is no a single trace of hydrogen association inside or out, so we will rule this option out. This vehicle is going to be produced in the company’s South Carolina facility, and it will go on sale as a 2019 model. The platform German automaker will use, is the carbon fiber-infused version of the CLAR modular design which underpins the current 7-Series.
Thanks to the new carbon rich construction, the X7 is going to be more advanced than the Mercedes-Benz GLS, one of its fiercest competitors. Among other rivals, we need to mention range-toppers of the Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, Lincoln Navigation, Lexus LX, Infiniti QX, Cadillac Escalade and many others.
