The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe will not be the only grand tourer which will be presented at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The German brand will also show off its Cabriolet with the fresh face and updated engine range. If you are satisfied with the coupe, you will love the convertible as well. The new 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet will hit the US market in mid-2018.
The S560 Cabriolet will come with the updated 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine that delivers 463 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It will be connected to the nine-speed automatic gearbox, but unlike the coupe, the convertible will only be offered with the RWD. The new model will be able to reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds while its limited top speed is 130 mph.
2018 Mercedes-Benz S560 Cabriolet
When it comes to the design, the cabriolet should be the same as the coupe, but specific updates such as the Aircap wind deflector and Airscarf neck warmer are necessary. Some of the optional equipment includes the latest Driver Assistance System with semi-autonomous features and the company’s Magic Body Control Stability system.
2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet
If you are looking for more horsepower and speed, this vehicle is the right for you. With the AMG’s 4.0-liter biturbo V8 powerplant, the S63 Cabriolet produces 603 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque, and it is mated to the AMG Speedshift nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It is faster than the S560 Cabriolet by 1.2 seconds on a 0-60 mph run while its top speed is locked at 186 mph. This model is the only S-Class Cabriolet which comes with an AWD configuration, whereas some of the upgrades are the AMG Track Pace app, performance exhaust, larger brakes, 20-inch wheels and sport Airmatic suspension.
2018 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet
The most expensive S-Class Cabriolet is the AMG S65 which packs the biturbocharged V12 unit good for 621 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a seven-speed automatic, but even though power numbers of the S65 are higher than the ones of S63, this model is actually slower, as it accelerates to 60 mph from a standstill in 4.0 seconds. The RWD system is standard, but compared to the S63, the S65 comes with the unique 20-inch wheels and different front end design.
