When we mention the Women’s division that NXT has, the name Asuka is always going to pop up first. That is astonishing since there have been a lot of great girls down in the NXT holding that belt. Charlotte is one of them, Sasha Banks was great as a heel champion in the developmental that was replaced with Bayley. But, none of them have left the mark the way Asuka did as she was portrayed as the dominant champion that has the longest winning streak in the history of the WWE and a brutal reign as the champion.
She got injured during the NXT Takeover Brooklyn Part III, and that was something that is going to cause her to miss at least six weeks of action. Even though no injury is good news, this one can be called that as she can lose the title without losing a match. Now, she is going to give up her NXT Women’s championship and move on to the main roster. General Manager William Regal has made a point that he is going to negotiate with both Smackdown Live and Monday Night Raw in order to have her on the main roster with a brand that deserves her.
Now, there are some plans about what should be done with the title. Last year, during the Cruiserweight Classic, there was a new belt that was designed for the champion of the tournament. This year, there is a Mae Young Classic with 32 women that are competing. The talks right now are that the winner of the Classic, which is going to revealed on September the 12th, is going to be the new NXT Women’s Champion. Right now, this is just an idea. But, it is the best idea that WWE has at this moment.
