At first, Aston Martin introduced the Vanquish Zagato, and its V12 engine produced 592 bhp, which was decent. After that, the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Volante came with the same amount of power and the same powerplant. Now, there are two new models which are added to the Vanquish Zagato family – the Speedster and Shooting Brake.
Speedster
When it comes to the Speedster, only 28 examples will be made, but these have already been sold. The Vanquish Zagato Speedster is based on the recent Vanquish S’s platform which features increased spring rates, a thicker rear anti-roll bar, modified dampers and revamped hydraulic steering.
Under its hood is a 6.0-liter V12 unit that delivers 592 bhp and it is connected a paddle-shift Touchtronic III transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. Its body panels are made from carbon fiber, while the vehicle is equipped with Vulcan’s cool “blade” rear lights, and Zagato “Z” badge at the center of the front grille. There are also two speedster humps over the rear which represent the Zagato’s traditional double bubble roof. Just to be clear, this model has no roof.
Shooting Brake
The Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake does have a roof, and it comes with the same V12 engine as the Speedster. This version, however, has a powered boot which when opened, shows an incredibly styled cabin. The Shooting Brake has two seats.
Aston Martin’s Marek Reichmann said about new models: “Think back to the DB7 Zagato and DB AR1, or the V8 Zagato Coupe and Volante. We’ve simply taken things a few steps further. We want Zagato to remain something very special. We’re creating collectibles. With only 325 cars worldwide, divided between 99 Coupes, 99 Volantes, 28 Speedsters and 99 Shooting Brakes, they are still the rarest of the rare.”
Andrea Zagato stated: “Zagato’s relationship with Aston Martin began with my grandfather and the DB4 GT Zagato, almost sixty years ago. Collaborating closely on the design of four complimentary, yet completely different Vanquish Zagatos has been an incredibly exciting challenge. I’m proud to continue the story my grandfather started.”
