The 2018 Acura RLX sedan comes with a new design which will hopefully increase the sales of this car which has not been so likable so far. The vehicle has edgy lines which were previewed on the Precision Concept and refreshed TLX model.
The largest changes are cosmetic, and the RLX is more aggressive than it has been before. It is equipped with a diamond pentagon grille which dominates the front end, while it is surrounded by brand new front fascia and sculpted hood. At the rear end, the engineers installed the new LED taillight, while you can also see a dual exhaust and shiny black rear diffuser. The company really wanted to improve this vehicle, and they managed to do so.
However, the changes do not extend any further, and the 2018 RLX will be powered by the 3.5-liter V6 engine that develops 310 horsepower and which is mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Acura managed to improve acceleration and passing time, whereas the vehicle also features all-wheel steering. If you love cars with all-wheel drive, the Sport Hybrid will be your choice, but it still generates the same 377 horsepower as the last year model.
Acura has slightly modified the interior as well, and you can see higher-quality materials and redesigned seats inside. AcuraWatch suite brings standard equipment such as auto braking, lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. In addition, there is Traffic Jam Assist which will help you out when you are driving in slow-speed situations. Even though the car itself maintains a safe distance from the other vehicles in traffic, Acura didn’t call it autonomous system.
Last year, fewer than 1,500 RLX models were sold, so the carmaker hopes that the redesign will improve the numbers. Stay tuned for the official reveal, which is going to happen in Monterey next week, but the car goes on sale in November.
