The leaks coming from the 345 Park Avenue have proven to be trustworthy before and we do not know why wouldn’t we take it serious now. The first time the leak came from the League office was regarding the Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and the time he had destroyed his cell phone in connection with the #Deflategate investigation. A day after the leak Brady was suspended four games due in part to the allegation that he’d destroyed his cell phone.
This time the 345 Park Avenue leaked the that Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is about to be suspended and added some important details in the leak. This came to Cris Carter of FS1 and he said over the FS1’s Undisputed that he will be “shocked if Zeke was not suspended in the next 48 hours”. He also added that “based on the information that’s going to come out, it’s going to be fairly easy to determine that something happened to this woman in her four days of being with Zeke”. Carter described Ezekiel’s situation as a case of “assault or domestic violence” and when all the information becomes public, according to Carter, this case is going to be very similar to Tom Brady’s suspension including, as he said “information that he had been advised possibly to give up, that was destroyed”.
Carter also made a prediction that the punishment for Ezekiel will be pretty much in the same range as Tom Brady’s four-game suspension, and he noted that if this actually happens the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will be in a problem because he made a multiple proclamations regarding the absence of any evidence of domestic violence. During the interview Carter was really careful in what he was saying in order to protect himself from the @OldTakesExposed, and it was all based on what he heard, plus there is a slim chance that Carter’s comments will be borne out by the eventual facts.
If we take what Carter heard seriously than it is an undisputed fact that someone from the League office decided they should add some fuel to the fire and leak this info just like they did in 2015 when Brady was in the spotlight, and to whom better than to one of the weekday morning #EmbraceDebate shows. But what seems a little odd in this whole situation is the fact that the League has opted for such step. We all know it is not fit to release sensitive information regarding crime and punishment to the public and it is even less normal to release it to player who once urged rookies to always have a “fall guy”.
