Mazda has recently revealed the first official photo of the upcoming CX-8’s cabin and now, several days later, a brochure showing that same SUV surfaced on the Internet. Not only does that brochure feature the CX-8’s cabin, but it shows the SUV in its entirety!
Judging from the looks of the front end of the SUV it is clear that it was based on the latest CX-5. Slim headlights and a little gap between the bonnet and the chrome surround are the most notable features similar to the CX-5. When it comes to grille we can see horizontal slats that are like ones from the CX-9. It’s fair to say that the CX-9’s design also impacted this vehicle.
Another similarity to the CX-9 is the rear overhang however if we were to compare it to the CX-5 it would be safe to say that the one on the CX-8 is much longer. Besides that similarity, we also noticed rear taillights that have a chrome trim piece connecting the left and right clusters.
As we already know seven people can be seated in the new Mazda CX-8 spread across three rows evenly. This brochure depicts how there will be three seat configurations for the second row. The first configuration offers two captain chairs, the second one offers a full bench and the third one offers two individual seats with dedicated center console.
When it comes to the dashboard the CX-8 uses the one from the CX-5. It also adopted the center stack and front center layout, however, the quality of the leaked photo makes it really hard to describe anything else in better detail. Last but not least, the commander knob and the MZD Connect system buttons will be familiar to most of you since there hasn’t been any significant changes made to them.
The CX-8 will run on a 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D turbodiesel engine which is connected to a six-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission. We have no knowledge yet on output figures because Mazda kept quiet on the subject. However, we expect them to match the 172 PS and 420 Nm figures produced by the same engine in the CX-5 lineup.
