Whether you’re a fan of superhero movies or not, we’re sure you are well-informed about the sequel to the last year’s blockbuster Deadpool. We’re sure because you simply can’t miss the news about the highly-anticipated title as the Internet is flooded with various articles about the movie cast, plot, and various speculations about how successful it is going to be. And now we bring a brand new piece of information straight from the horse’s mouth.
Namely, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has recently talked about the sequel and he made a rather unusual comparison saying that Deadpool 2 would be similar to a famous buddy action “Rush Hour.” He first praised both Ryan Reynolds and James Brolin and then continued to describe how great a team they are. “He [Ryan Reynolds] is such a great actor. That’s where it starts, and gravitas, and who else really is going to hold their ground with Ryan as Wade/Deadpool. That is energy unbridled, and so you’ve gotta hold your ground,” Liefeld said and then continued: “When I see the two of them, I’m like, ‘It’s going to be comic book’s equivalent to Rush Hour,’ and I don’t know if comic fans are ready for it. I think it’s going to be great.”
The iconic anti-hero creator also shared his impressions on his Twitter: “The pairing of Deadpool and Cable has always been a contrast in style and combustible. They have been a buddy cop film pairing.”
As for Brolin himself, Liefeld felt the urge to emphasize how great an actor he is. “If you only see No Country for Old Men and Sicario, you’ve seen two great totally separate Josh Brolin performances. The Llewelyn who is sullen but determined and doesn’t speak much but you follow him the whole time in No Country, and Sicario, he’s this wild, shoot-em-up CIA guy.The guy is a tremendous actor,” the creator explained.
Besides Reynolds and Brolin, we know that the upcoming film will also star Shioli Kutsuna and Zazi Beats (as Domino), while Jack Kesy and Julian Dennison are being cast for some important roles, but it has not been revealed which ones yet. That’s all we know so far. Stay tuned for more news.
