Man in charge of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane, has created the Orville, the upcoming live-action drama/comedy that will air on Fox. It is something we have never seen before, and we cannot wait to see whether this will be a complete success or utter failure. You can watch the trailer below.
The Orville Release Date
The Orville will start airing on September 10th at 8 pm just after the NFL on Fox doubleheader. It will broadcast at the same time the week after that, but on September 28, it should move to the regular 9 pm time slot.
Cast and Crew
According to Entertainment Weekly, Charlize Theron is going to join Seth MacFarlane in the Orville, but we don’t know much about her character at the moment. She is going to appear in a single episode this fall. Meanwhile, Seth MacFarlane will play Ed Mercer, a skipper in the Planetary Union who commands a ship where his ex-wife is the first officer. MacFarlane created Family Guy and American Dad as well as writer and voice star of the Ted.
His ex-wife and The Orville’s first officer is Kelly Grayson played by Adrianne Palicki, who is the former Friday Night Lights and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D actress. She also appeared in John Wick and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Scott Grimes will play Gordon Mallory, The Orville’s helmsman. He is Ed’s best friend who has issues with authority, so we expect a lot of comic situations here.
Peter Macon play Bortus, an alien crew member while Pany Johnson Jerald will be in the role of Dr. Claire Finn, The Orville’s doctor. In the meantime, Mark Jackson will be Isaac, the pretentious android from the society of machines, while the show will also star J. Lee who will be Lamarr, The Orville’s navigator. Halston Sage, Chad L. Coleman, Norm MacDonald and Larry Joe Campbell will join the squad as well.
Not only will MacFarlane be a star, but he is also the creator and executive producer of The Orville. The director will be Jon Favreau who directed first two Iron Man films and The Jungle Book, while Brannon Braga, James L. Conway, Jonathan Frakes and Robert Duncan McNeil will also help direct the show.
The Story
Fox’s official synopsis says: “The Orville is a one-hour science fiction series set 400 years in the future that follows the adventures of the U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory vessel. Its crew, both human and alien, faces the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of regular people in a workplace…even though some of those people are from other planets, and the workplace is a faster-than-light spaceship. In the 25th century, Earth is part of the Planetary Union, a far-reaching, advanced and mostly peaceful civilization with a fleet of 3,000 ships.”
