BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) is the preferred device of Kim Kardashian, who said so in a Code/Mobile tech conference recently. “BlackBerry is my heart and soul,” she said. “I love it. I will never get rid of it.” However, If we give a look at the latest 200 tweets that the actress has made beginning March, none of those has been made using the BlackBerry device, questioning her claims.
Tweets tell a different story
At the conference, the TV- reality star gave indications that it was hard for her to imagine her life without a BlackBerry device. The few years old ‘Bold’ model is the favorite device of the actor, who hoards at least three units of her preferred device. The moment one breaks down she replaces it with another from eBay. The TV actor makes sure that she carries her BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) around on almost all occasions as wants to be seen with it only.
An analysis of tweets sent Contradicts these claims. Of the 200 tweets, maximum number of tweets i.e. 136 have been made using Instagram and BlackBerry does not support it, says a report from Page Six. Kim at the conference told that for taking photos she mostly uses the iPhone.
The remaining tweets too were made using devices other than BlackBerry and from the sources that were not supported on the BlackBerry device. As many as 28 tweets were made from the web, nine through Twitter or iPhone, ten using Tweetdeck and 17 using the application Echofon. And the amazing fact is that even Echofon is not supported on BlackBerry.
Kim Kardashian, the 34-year old TV actor expressed her interest in becoming the spokeswoman for BlackBerry when enquired saying that “I feel like I should. I’m going to make a call after this.”
BlackBerry popular among celebrities
BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) users have declined drastically over past 2-3 years with the limelight taken over by Google’s Android and Apple’s iPhone devices, but the Canadian firm’s device is still popular among the celebrities who prefer BlackBerry over other devices.
There are many other celebrities besides Kim Kardashian who still use BlackBerry. The first smartphone chosen by the actor Bill Murray, to keep in touch with his kids through texts, was an old BlackBerry. Few other names in the list are Lindsay Lohan, Cuba Gooding Jr and Leonardo DiCaprio, who have been spotted with BlackBerry devices on numerous occasions this year.
