The latest rumors suggest that Dwayne The Rock Johnson is not going to become the cast member of the forthcoming Shazam! movie. The initial plan that was conceived back in 2014 included Johnson as well, however, it seems that there have been some changes. It has been decided to proceed with the project but without The Rock.
The movie is scheduled to come out sometime during 2024. Due to some changes in the process of making, the timetable was altered couple of times. But with David F. Sandberg coordinating the whole project, everything seems to be going without attracting much of attention.
For instance, we are still not familiar with the final casting crew or synopsis of the movie. Some information that we gathered actually stem from one conversation on Twitter between Wrap‘s Umberto Gonzales and Variety‘s Justin Kroll. From their conversation, we could draw a conclusion that Black Adam is not going to be a part of the movie. Gonzales supported the words, and according to this guy when Sandberg took over the project he had to “take off Dwayne in the report.”
At first, the movie was set to come out in 2019, but due to the aforementioned changes, it will be postponed for about a year. In January, it was announced that Shazam will be ramified into the separate movies instead of only one. But now even that announcement has apparently been crossed out with no additional information on Johnson’s involvement in the solo project and who’s going to be the main character in Shazam.
Warner Bros. and DC are about to host Comic-Con International’s panel, and this would be an excellent opportunity for them to give out some news regarding the upcoming movie. Justice League and Aquaman will be in the spotlight of the panel, but it would also be fantastic for all the fans if they would hear something new about Shazam.
