2019 Audi S7 – What We Know So Far

In terms of design, the most beautiful cars you can find are four-door hatchbacks or popular Sportbacks, and before 2012, Mercedes dominated this segment with their CLS Coupe. That is why BMW and Audi were forced to produce BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe and A7 Sportback respectively. The A7 Sportback was launched in 2010 whereas the S7 arrived two years later. The S7 model is, basically, a boosted version of the luxury family hauler which was powered by a 4.0-liter V8. It was updated in 2015, and recently the new, second-generation, S7 has been spotted on the streets.

The S7 has undergone some tests in the warm European weather, and although the sun was blazing, the S7 refused to take off its camouflage. However, there are some parts which are clearly visible, so let’s analyze it together.

Audi S7 Spy Shots and Exterior

There are some obvious changes from the last time we have seen this vehicle, and one of them is the addition of the brand-new corner air intakes. Furthermore, center louver which spread across the vent disappeared whereas a triangular trim element is visible on the outer edge of each vent. Audi stripped down some covers from the headlights top, revealing straight LED strip which lines up with the upper louver of the wider front grille.

Around the back, the S7 will feature the same red light strip that is visible on the A8 model, and the whole rear end will be similar to the derriere of the A8, but it will be slightly smaller. Moreover, the lower segment has been modified, and there is a massive recess between the exhaust outlets. The dual exhaust tips will be made of chrome on the production model whereas the odd thing about the prototype was that it had two large sensors on the grille. This probably means that the road ready S7 will be at least semi-autonomous.

The 2019 Audi S7 looks a lot like the Prologue Avant Concept as the both vehicles come with a stretched out hexagonal grille and identical corner air intakes. Furthermore, they both have narrow headlights, and they are going to have a slightly different shape on the production S7 than on the concept. However, this difference is invisible to the naked eye, and only if you pay close attention, you would see it. Also, the prototype’s hood is surprisingly smooth, indicating that Audi might get rid of the sharp body lines found on the current model’s hood.

Also, we can expect the same prominent body line on the bottom of the door between the wheel arches. Audi has smartly combined the wide rear quarters with the low body height to get an extremely handsome vehicle. The S7’s roof epitomizes the roof of the Sportback whereas the rear quarter glass slopes downward at the greater angle than on the ongoing version.

2019 Audi S7 Interior

As you have probably guessed, there are no photos of the 2019 Audi S7’s interior, and we will have to wait to see the cabin. However, it will not be changed drastically, and we can expect some minor modifications even though the new-generation model is on our doorstep. So, we will find a large touchscreen on top of the center stack together with the revamped HVAC vents underneath. Also, carbon fiber should be used for the dashboard, door panels, and center console whereas a flat bottom steering wheel is a must. The passengers will enjoy the cabin due to sports seats which offer a lot of side support, and we are definitely going to find brand’s visual cockpit instead of the traditional instrument cluster.

Engines

We currently don’t know which engine will be under the S7’s hood, but the ongoing car is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 unit good for 450 ponies and 406 lb-ft of torque. It will be enough for the new S7 to reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and to have a limited speed of 155 mph but there is a possibility that Audi will introduce a new unit to the range. We expect at least a power boost which would drop its acceleration time from 4.5 seconds to 4.3 seconds.

Without any doubt, the 2019 Audi S7 will receive the Quattro all-wheel drive system with an S Tronic, seven-speed dual clutch transmission. Moreover, the S7 will sit just above the ground thanks to the Audi Adaptive air suspension system, which will eliminate the body roll during extreme maneuvers in sharp turns.
