Nissan brought its Sunny to India in 2011, and even though it differs from the Micra regarding the design, it is just a sedan version of the car. The time has come for the company to launch the next-generation Nissan Sunny and it should be at the beginning of 2018, according to Autocar India.
The fifth-generation Nissan Micra will serve as an inspiration for the brand-new Sunny model, and you can see the possible look of the Sunny in the rendering. The Renault-Nissan Alliance will work on two platforms on which all the future models that arrive in India will be based. These are CMF-A/CMF-A+ and B0/Logan with the Sunny using the former.
The length of the ongoing Sunny model is 4,455mm, and the big body didn’t do well in the Indian market. That is why, the new-generation will come with a smaller body, which is one of the ways to achieve a better balance between space and agility. Under the hood, the car will sport a 1.5-liter H4K petrol engine good for 106 PS and 142 Nm of torque, and it will be paired with a 5-MT and X-Tronic CVT. Unfortunately, a diesel version will not be available.
Nissan Sunny Competitors
The main rivals of the 2018 Nissan Sunny are Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, and Hyundai Verna, with the Toyota Vios arriving in 2018 to stir up the competition. The new model will be produced at the Chennai factory, and most of these cars will be distributed to Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Meanwhile, the Renault-Nissan Alliance is also working to stop cross-badging which might have sealed the destiny of the Renault Scala.
