The prototypes of the improved Mini Hardtop and Mini Convertible were spotted just a couple of months ago, and we already got spy photos on the new 2019 Mini Hardtop 4 Door. The BMW’s small car brand is currently busy with this model which is elsewhere known as the Mini 5 Door.
If you were expecting some significant modifications, we have to disappoint you because that is not going to happen. The Hardtop 4 Door was introduced two years ago, and now, the carmaker is looking to deliver smaller fixes and minor design changes.
Based on the camouflage, we can expect to see some changes to the both headlights and taillights as well as front and rear bumpers as these segments were hidden most. What we need to mention is that the prototype caught on camera is for the Cooper S Hardtop 4 Door, but same revisions are expected on the entry-level Cooper Hardtop 4 Door.
The vehicle is going to be powered by the ongoing I3 and I4 engines which will be carried over, but we believe that there is going to be a minor increase in horsepower and fuel efficiency. The Cooper S is still going to be the top dog, and no trims will be added to the range.
There’s a fat chance to see a John Cooper Works Hardtop 4 Door, but there is a possibility that Mini will add the plug-in hybrid powertrain which was presented in the 2017 Mini Cooper S E Countryman. The system comprises an I3 unit at the front and an electric motor at the back for the complete output of 221 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque.
2019 Mini Hardtop 4 Door Release Date
The new improved Hardtop 4 Door will be officially revealed at the beginning of 2018 when we will know more information. Stay tuned for more details.
