It is not easy to make a living playing in the NFL. The contracts are not guaranteed as they are in the other major American sports. Even the best players that get massive deals from the teams have a lot of clauses, and only some amount of money is going to be guaranteed. A lot of people are fighting for roster spots, and it is sometimes a success if you can land on that final 53-man list.
There are a lot of positions in the NFL, and you need to be at the top of your game as everybody is replaceable. It is an ultimate team game, and you just need to find the right mix of players. Every squad needs to trim down the roster to only 53 players before the season begins and some tough cuts happen every single year. The same will be this round, and the same thing will apply to the Dallas Cowboys. Here are the players that might not make the team even though the fans have high hopes.
RICO GATHERS – What is not to love about this guy. He is a 6’8” beast of an athlete that used to play basketball but decided to transition to a tight end. Dallas doesn’t really need a lot of players at this position so Gathers might be the one to be cut. The potential is there, but we are not sure whether or not the Cowboys can afford to keep him.
JONATHAN COOPER – Cowboys lost some players in their offensive line, and many believe that Cooper car revive his career with this team. The competition between the O-linemen is tough, it is one of the Cowboys’ strongest position so there is a chance that they would like to boost other segments and have as many players that play on the defensive side of the ball as possible. Cooper might be the odd man out.
