The Subaru Impreza is a family hatchback with a standard 4WD and if you want a vehicle which offers enough space in the cabin and it isn’t hungry for fuel, the Impreza is not the way to go. Subaru needs to step up its game and make the new 2018 model more competitive.
2018 Subaru Impreza Release Date
Speaking of the new vehicle, the 2018 Subaru Impreza will be officially presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall and according to the carmaker, the new version, which is currently under wraps, will be “safe and secure with a fun driving experience.”
Engines
The current model is available with a 1.6-liter petrol engine that delivers 112 bhp, and this is the only engine in the range. To be honest, the unit is weak, and the Impreza struggles to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph as it takes the car 12.4 seconds to do it. The buyers can opt for either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.
The Japanese carmaker has probably learned the lesson, and we expect the new 2018 Impreza to be offered with more engine options. There is a possibility that a 2.0-liter diesel will be one of the powerplants. Meanwhile, Subaru plans to keep the 4WD configuration.
Equipment
Both UK-spec and US-spec models of the 2018 Subaru Impreza will be similar, and both of those will come with a new 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen. The US version is supposed to get a reversing camera, satellite navigation, and Apple CarPlay. Some of the standard safety features will include automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
2018 Subaru Impreza Price
The official pricing details are yet to be announced, but the price of the current vehicle is £18,995. Based on this we can conclude that the 2018 Subaru Impreza will be £20,000, maybe slightly over. The Impreza needs to be much better or see a price reduction because there are less expensive rivals such as Skoda Octavia, Ford Focus, and Volkswagen Golf, which offer a lot more.
