You can have all the in-ring skills that you want, but that is not going to make as much of an impact if you are not good on the mic as well. Promos are really important in wrestling as that’s how the wrestlers are able to build their character and show the fans who they are, they get to show off their personalities and get the fans to like them or hate them, based on whether they are a heel or a babyface.

Some of the wrestlers are just natural talkers as they were able to do a great job on the mic since day one. The others needed a lot of time to practice before they became good talkers while there are the ones that never quite master this segment of the professional wrestling.

There are a lot of arguments to be made for Alexa Bliss as the best talker out of all the women in the WWE and one of the best superstars on the mic in the entire company. There is no doubt that her great mic work is what got her over as a heel on Smackdown Live in 2016. But, she didn’t start off her career being a great talker. According to her, it took her a while before she became what she is today.

“I would have anxiety over our promo classes and I would panic and I was just terrible on the microphone. But the fact we had classes every week I was able to gain confidence and learn how to speak in front of an audience, be it 500, 5 000 or 50 000. Our promo coach was WWE legend, the late Dusty Rhodes, and he would talk about trying new things and getting out of our comfort zone. He was a huge influence on me.”
