Blackberry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) once the leader of smartphone market has seen the demand of its devices decline sharply and the company is trying to turn its fortunes and for this they got CEO John Chen. The CEO is seen shouldering his responsibility well and has come up with some different kind of devices with Passport being the latest offering. Though it was the star of the evening, but the limelight was taken away by the man behind it, says a report from Digitaltrends. John Chen completely overshadowed the event with his charismatic personality.
Is John Chen capable to turn BlackBerry?
The company needs a strong person with a dynamic personality to bring it out of the difficult times and Chen seems to be the perfect choice of the company as he has all that it needs to be a successful leader. This person was unknown in terms of his personality since he got associated with Blackberry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB).
Chen has always been discussed in terms of the business acumen and not his personality. This led to assumption among people that probably he did not have a personality of his own that was worth mentioning, and hence it was always his business acumen that was discussed. This is largely attributable to the fact that Chen focuses on making companies successful and then selling off the good bits with no emotions attached to anything. He is said to be a numbers man and the job he performs does not need an effervescent character to perform.
Does not mind making fun
John Chen’s way of execution is different from others. When asked about the heavily priced Porsche Design P’9983 he poked fun at BlackBerry itself and said that the $2350 has been liked by a lot of people, and later he clarified that it has been liked by a lot of rich people. We are sure that Tim Cook will not be able to make such a statement about the new device from Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), the 128 GB iPhone 6 Plus.
This man hosted the launch event for Passport on September 24, but all the technical talk and demos was taken care of by a crew of Blackberry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) officials. The CEO disappeared after sometime and it was said that had he been there he would have added some more value to the device had he introduced it.
