Even though most details about a new action movie Skyscraper are still kept under wraps, we have managed to find out some details. This film is written and will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, known for Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004), We’re the Millers (2013) and Central Intelligence (2016).
The story will be set in China, and it will revolve around an FBI hostage rescue team whose leader is a war veteran, Will Ford. This lead role will be played by a superstar Dwayne The Rock Johnson. While in China, Ford finds out that his family is in danger, trapped in a burning skyscraper, so he sets out to save his close ones and find the culprits for setting the fire. That’s what we know about the plot for the time being.
Here’s how the actor himself described his role: “My character is a disabled US War Vet and former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader. This character is inspired by the thousands of disabled US veterans and war heroes I’ve had the honor of shaking hands with over the years. This character is also an homage to the every day man and woman who, despite all odds, will dig deep and do everything possible to protect and save their family.”
When it comes to the cast, for quite some time we have only known that we’ll get to see The Rock in the main role, but that was all. However, we now got the info that Neve Campbell will also make an appearance in the upcoming action flick. Since the news has just been revealed, there are still no details about her character, but we believe that they will at least give us a sneak peek soon enough. The actress is known for her performance in TV shows My Secret Identity and Party of Five, as well as movies The Craft and Scream.
Skyscraper Release Date
Not only do we have an update on the movie’s cast, but the release date has also been confirmed. They will start shooting the movie this summer, and it will hit theaters on July 13th, 2018. Johnson broke the big news on his Instagram: “BREAKING: Grateful to share this big news. Universal Studios and @Legendary Pictures have declared JULY 13th 2018 SKYSCRAPER weekend.
