In 2016, the Cadillac’s CT6 arrived with a new naming strategy, but more importantly, it came with lightweight, aluminum-infused Omega platform that was built for big RWD vehicles. Even though this model has never been meant to be a flagship sedan, the Cadillac fans just loved it. Its combination of price, decent amount of space inside the cabin, tremendous handling and driving dynamics attracted drivers from all sides of the world.
Now, the company wants to further improve the CT6, and a prototype of the facelifted model has been caught on camera and based on these spy shots we can conclude that there are some significant modifications when it comes to the design. The new 2019 Cadillac CT6 will take some of the cues from the Escala concept that debuted at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Some of the parts similar to the Escala are the front grille and lower bumper, and even though the vehicle is camouflaged, we can clearly see the floating pinhead pattern of the grille. Furthermore, the headlights of the new Cadillac CT6 will be thinner and more horizontal, and they appear to almost meet with the grille. The taillights will also go through some changes, and they will look nearly identical to the ones on the Escala.
New 2019 CT6 Interior
When it comes to the cabin, we expect small tweaks and probably the addition of some new electronic driving aids one of which is a variant of the company’s Super Cruise self-driving system. This will help the car drive itself in heavy traffic and on the highway, whereas the CUE infotainment system will also be featured.
Engine
Under the hood, Cadillac is getting its own twin-turbocharged V8 which most likely will come with 4.2-liter displacement, and there is a possibility that we will see this unit in the facelifted CT6, but it won’t be offered in the CT6-V model. According to Cadillac President Johan De Nysschen, the unit is not only about performance as the refinement is what they seek to achieve.
