Ford Ranger will come back to the United States representing a new generation truck as a 2019 model. The vehicle at hand may be a power-house when it comes to performance named Raptor.

Currently, the company is testing out prototypes in Australia where the local Ford division developed the T6 platform for the vehicle. This platform is also the foundation for the current generation Ranger that is available in markets outside the US.

Thanks to our colleagues at CarAdvice we managed to get our hands on a few photos. Looking at those images, we can notice that there are some upgrades which could indicate that the prototype is actually a version of the Ranger looking a lot like the F-150 Raptor. The most prominent elements that had been left out on previous prototypes include increased ride height, flared wheel arches, off-road tires and a shorter bumper.

The man who photographed the car claimed that it sounded like it was running on one of Ford’s twin-turbocharged V-6 gasoline engine. The Ranger sold overseas can be bought with a pair of diesel units: a 2.2-liter inline-4 with 158 hp and 284 pound-feet of torque and a 3.2-liter inline-5 with 197 hp and 346 lb-ft.

We also believe that the name of the vehicle will be Ranger Raptor. Why? Well in 2015 Ford registered the ‘Ranger FX4’ and ‘Ranger Raptor’ trademarks in Australia. Taking that we had already seen the ‘Ranger FX4’ launch in Australia, it means that the name ‘Ranger Raptor’ might be the name of their latest truck.

Also, a new Bronco is under development besides the new Ranger and watch out for potential mechanical packages offered in the pickup because they might as well be available for the future SUV.
